Our advanced driving courses are designed for both private individuals and corporate clients. We cover all of the UK with our significant network of Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency registered fleet/advanced driving instructors. Norwich and the surrounding areas are where we have already delivered driver training for a wide range of clients. In Norfolk alone, we have provided driver training in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Cromer, Kings Lynn and Thetford. We can cover all areas of Norfolk and come to you for the training, which takes place in your own vehicle or vehicles.

Norfolk, like a lot of counties in the UK, has a huge expanse of rural roads. Rural roads are of specific interest to us, as they are generally considered the most dangerous in the UK. This is due to the challenging nature of them, combined with the relatively high speed and close proximity of oncoming traffic. During an advanced driving course, whether that be for a private individual or for a group of company car or van drivers, we take the time to ensure rural roads are covered in detail. In Norfolk, we use a wide range of B -roads and also A roads as part of the rural road training, including the A11, A47 and A140, as they have many junctions leading off onto rural roads where we like to deliver the training, to make safer, more skilful drivers.

There are no motorways in Norfolk, so for any motorway training, we will head southwest towards the M11 or the A1 ( M ). With urban driver training, which is also important in a comprehensive, advanced driving course, we will head into areas such as Norwich, usually into the centre or into more residential areas such as Taverham. During urban training, we help drivers manage their speed in lower limits and also make them aware of vulnerable road users and pedestrians and the threat a car or van poses in these environments.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Norfolk

Norfolk does not have any dedicated motorways. The nearest fast road is the A1, located west of the county at Peterborough. There are many fast A road routes, as well as rural and coastal roads and lanes spread across Norfolk, and these have seen many fatal accidents in the past several years.

The stretch of the A17 from the Cross Keys Swing Bridge at Little Sutton into Kings Lynn is a high-speed route. It is very hazardous, with many collisions recorded. Several are along the many patches of dual carriageways along the route and at the roundabout junctions where it merges with the A47. The rural Main Road at Clenchwarton into Kings Lynn has also witnessed several severe collisions. This is accessed via the A47 Shoreboat Roundabout, through Tilney High End. The A418 from Kings Lynne to Cromer is a dangerous route, and the most severe accidents seem to happen when minor roads cross the faster A road, such as the Knights Hill Roundabout and near Thursford Wood. From Holt into Cromer, the accidents along the A148 get much closer together. The same sort of statistics occurs along the A419 from Cromer through North Walsham, Stalham, Sutton and Batswick.

The A47 into Norwich from Dereham has seen many fatal collisions along the route, and these continue along the Dereham Road into the centre of Norwich. The A47 then travels onto Great Yarmouth, with even more fatalities recorded scattered along the way, especially near Acle. The A140 from Ipswich into Norwich is another particularly fast route, and many fatal accidents, once again, have occurred near intersections of minor road crossings, such as the B1527, between Low Tharston and Hempnall.

This is a very slight outline of collision sites in the county of Norfolk. If you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone who is interested.
