As providers of national advanced driving courses, we cover the whole of the UK, including Liverpool. We help both private individuals and businesses make safer, more skilful drivers. During an advanced driving course, we cover as many roads as possible. In Liverpool, these typically cover:

1. Urban roads: Ideal for dealing with lower speed limits and vulnerable road users (cyclists) and pedestrians, along with other risks associated with driving in urban environments. We use the centre of Liverpool on roads such as Upper Parliament Street, Edge Hill, Great Howard Street and other similar areas.

2. Rural roads: Ideal for improving car control and introducing various advanced driving techniques. Obviously, we need to head out of Liverpool for this, often heading out towards areas like Wigan and Chorley or south towards Northwich or Tarporley.

3. Motorways: We have a good network of motorways and dual carriageways in and around Liverpool and use the M6, M56, M62 and M58 mainly, but like with all other roads, this does depend on your location in Liverpool. We often head towards Warrington and or Manchester when doing all or part of our motorway training.

We can help with a range of courses, from general advanced driving courses for car and van drivers, to specialist courses such as motorway confidence or refresher training.

Remember – All our on-road driving courses are tailored to your exact requirements. For both business and private clients.

During a session, we typically look at:

Road Safety Risks and Information – Liverpool

Liverpool is very busy, with numerous hotspots for collisions across the entire area. The motorways that serve Liverpool are the M53, M58, and M62 and several fast A road routes such as the A41, A59, and A565.

The M53 travels toward Liverpool from Chester and meets the A554 and the A5139 at the Bidston Island roundabout in Wallasey. This is an intersection with numerous collision sites as it can be pretty challenging as it splits into several routes: the A59 that continues over the Kingsway Tunnel into Liverpool centre and the A5139, Dock Road, that travels down to meet the A554 and the A41, New Chester Road, on the left bank of the River Mersey and the Docks. This route is laden with accident sites along the entire route, and some are severe and life-changing. Due to the area, many drivers may be unfamiliar with the routes, especially foreign drivers transporting goods to and from the Docks. Due to this issue, it is always wise to pay more attention to hesitant drivers in industrial or commercial areas, as many accidents may have been avoided with a little more patience.

The A59 travels over the Kingsway Tunnel and links to the A5053 and the A580; this is a challenging junction with numerous accidents noted, especially the traffic light system joining Leeds Street. The junction further along, joining the A59 to the A57 and Great Crosshill Street, has also seen its fair share of collisions in the last few years. These often occur during rush hours, and better observations and more patience can be the difference between arriving at your destination safely or not. The A5053 links to the A5052 at Great Howard Street and King Edward Street, where numerous collision sites are again at the large traffic light intersection. This route merges into New Quay and Strand Street, where roads then link into the city centre. Queensway Tunnel also ties into this route and brings much traffic from across the river Mersey from the A552 Kings Square in Birkenhead.

Many areas within the city centre are pedestrianised, but several routes running through the areas are shared with cyclists and bus routes, making for hazardous driving, such as Lord Street and Church Street, with too many collisions that may have been avoided with better observations and clear indications. Hanover Street is very similar in statistics, especially when it merges with Ranelagh Street, where collision rates are very high.

This is only a minimal outline of collision sites in the Liverpool area. If you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone who is interested.
