Hello all..
Wonder if anyone may be in the same boat as me then...?
I just got a letter from the DSA saying I have been successful at the interview stage for the job of Driving Examiner...great eh???
However, the letter also says that at this point in time there are no vacancies in my area and they will let me know when one comes up.
Why would they do this? Anybody had a similar experience?
Thanks in advance
Andy. |

I can only comment on that of LGV examiners who are tasked to examine at test stations far away from their home and are put up in digs for the week - hope you like staying away all week _________________ ROG

It's the Civil Service.
You go on a list now and they'll call you.
I've heard of applicants being on lists for 12-18 months. (Not for DSA I hasten to add). |

Hi Andy and welcome. I've now got a date for Interview next month (mid-August). I've heard from a couple of others who are in the same position as me. I also heard about the lack of current vacancies but was also told by a SE friend, that there are a large number due to retire (at least in Scotland) at the end of this year, so to be prepared to wiat.
I must admit, I'm not in a hurry to change, but I'm frustrated where I am so fancy a change. I don't think going back down the ADI route is viable in the current climate, and the LGV/PCV CPC will be about another year before it starts to develop.
I do think a year for recruitment is a bit excessive I know from 10 years Local Authority, that things move slowly, but the lack of progress and poor communications from the DSA is rediculous. I must admit to wondering whether or not to continue. _________________ Renny Thomson
