Just a thought
We have Learner and Advanced Forum's. In here, generally Advanced means IAM/RoSPA. Is it worth having a forum called High Performance / Precision Driving to cater for those above / beyond the "Advanced" level? _________________ Darren Tipton

Is there such a thing as above "Advanced" for road driving? We all strive for the perfect drive, and I like the fact we are independent from RoSPA/IAM etc. How do you decide which questions would fit in which forum if you have a "Advanced Advanced Driving"?
I have however wondered about a section for Track and other off road techniques (perhaps Members Only). |

I could classify Advanced as IAM/RoSPA in the forum title, then in the High Performance / Precision Driving forum classify that as Beyond IAM/RoSPA? _________________ Darren Tipton

Interesting ROG. Who wrote this matrix?
For those wanting to read another definition of driving beyond IAM/Rospa, the High Performance Club has published its standards for entry to the club and beyond, at http://www.hpc.org.uk/standards/index.html

| Don't know who made the matrix, but it is in the `Mind Driving` book by Steve Haley |

Correct there are similar diagrams in Mind Driving. However.... I've asked if having the extra forum is worthwhile, not "defining beyond advanced". If we are having that, then it shouldn't be in this part of the forum.
Any views on the original question appreciated. _________________ Darren Tipton

It is a worthwhile idea to create a new forum, but on balance I am against it.
On the one hand - I think our discussions about non- or post- IAM/Rospa techniques are potentially confusing to those pursuing the IAM/Rospa agenda,
and on the other hand - I think it would often be difficult to draw the line between the existing advanced driving forum and the new one, since for example every thread about avoiding BGOL quickly gets into situations where we choose not to avoid it.
And also, it is inconvenient to have to check more and more forums.
So my answer is - stick with the present structure. |

Forum's dont really need to be checked per se, you could:
Get email update notification on topics.
Subscribe to the daily email digest of forum goings on's.
Use the "View Posts since Last Visit" link to show whats been replied to.
It's not specifically a new forum, its an extension of what is already here? _________________ Darren Tipton

I agree. The added complexity doesn't seem worth it to me.
Best wishes all,
Dave. |
